Preparing for Your Exam at the Examencommissie
Welcome to the guide for preparing for your exam with the Examination Board for secondary education. Here you will find all the information on how to study independently and which tools are available to prepare for your exams.
Subject Sheets
Each subject in your exam program has a subject sheet. It states what you need to know and be able to do. Additionally, the subject sheet includes an overview of textbooks, websites, and other learning resources you can use. Always check if you are using the correct subject sheet, especially since new subject sheets come into effect every year on January 1st.

Study Material
The Examination Board does not offer lessons or study material. You need to find your study material yourself. The subject sheet provides an overview of textbooks and other learning resources. You can buy these new or second-hand, or borrow them from a library.
- Compare the table of contents of your textbook with the learning content in the subject sheet.
- Possibly combine different textbooks.
Calculator Apps
During exams for mathematics and sciences, you can use three online calculator apps. You can practice with these freely at home. Note: not all functions of Geogebra are available in the calculator apps.
Dictionary and Spell Check
During the exam, you may use spell check and a simple dictionary.
Practice with a Digital Mock Exam
You can practice your knowledge with a digital mock exam that includes all question types you may encounter with the Examination Board. These are not content-related questions about the subjects, but an introduction to the digital exam program.
Language Exams
For language subjects, you will take both a written and an oral exam. In the modernized language exams, reading, listening, speaking, and writing are combined.
